Black Coffee or Redrum?

I love coffee, I love tea
I love the java jive and it loves me
Coffee and tea and the java and me

A cup, a cup, a cup, a cup, boy!

Slip me a slug of the wonderful mug
an Ill cut a rug just as snug in a jug
Drop a nickel in the pot joe
Takin it slow
Waiter, waiter, percolator

Never over the past eleven months or so since I stopped drinking coffee have I had the craving as I have today. This proverbial coffee wagon isn't all it's cracked up to be. I was sitting there this morning sipping my green tea and thinking about everyone with their lattes and their drive-through morning coffees, and I was thinking that even the sludge at work smelled appealing this day.
And I idly wondered if I were to have a small cup after so long, might my brain flip over into a coffeeholic? Maybe I would go insane like Jack Nicholson in The Shining. On days like this when nothing works and people keep piling more work on you, it's fortunate that there generally aren't a lot of roque mallets just lying around for conflicted people to pick up.

Hey, I sung that song in jazz choir back in high school. Manhattan Transfer is awesome.

And good on you for not having any coffee for almost a year - it's an expensive habit to support. I think I'm the only person in Seattle who doesn't drink coffee, and I get picked on for that once in awhile.
